Mark’s Experience

Mark brings a wealth of political and local government experience to the Wrekin having served as a councillor on two councils – on a unitary and borough council, respectively. He was also elected to the National Board of the Conservative Councillors  Association (CCA)  in 2000.

He is committed to local democracy and is leading the local campaign to prevent regional government being introduced to Shropshire, commenting, "Labour's plans for regional government will just take more power away from local people, will increase bureaucracy and will centralise decision making even further. Local decisions should be made by local and accountable people - not in a town in another County.

Mark's current campaigns also include his: 'Save Our Services' hospital campaign; 'Stop the Closures' post office campaign; and a campaign to stop open cast mining near Wellington.

Mark has a particular interest in defence,  rural issues; foreign affairs; standing up for British culture, heritage and traditions; and animal welfare issues .
