Our Policy Forum meets at Admaston.
We have recently discussed Practical Education, Energy, Savings and Debt, Constitutional Affairs, Housing & Policing, Low carbon economy.
New members are welcome, and do not have to be paid up members of the Conservative Party. We encourage a broad range of views.
The CPF (originally the Conservative Political Centre) was founded by Rab Butler at the end of the war to stimulate new ideas and political discussion. The CPF is the Party’s sounding board where new policies, once they have taken shape, are explained and promoted.
CPF members are a mixture of those who represent their Branches and others who wish to contribute to the political discussions and decisions currently taking place in the Party. This is a grass roots political discussion group which meets on a regular basis. Discussion briefs are circulated by the Central Office organisation of the Party and a report is written on the views of our group for submission to Central Office. A compilation of the views expressed by groups from all over the country is passed to the appropriate Shadow Minister, who replies to the points raised.
Our Policy Forum meets to discuss both National and local polices. Over the last 12 months we have discussed crime, health, transport, education and local issues. For those who enjoy political debate we are the place for you. We also have dinner meetings where we hear from political speakers.
