Cllr Stuart Parr has raised concerns about management of the closure of Hadley Park Road to install raised pedestrian crossings.
The road closure has meant there has been no access to Hadley Park Road Industrial Estate from the Leegomery roundabout for the last 3 weeks but Telford & Wrekin Council didn't ask for signage informing drivers of this so Balfour Beatty, who are carrying out the works, didn't install any. As a consequence, drivers needing to get to the industrial estate were driving through the road closed signs unsure how to get to it.
Several businesses owners contacted Stuart to raise concerns so he spoke to both Balfour Beatty and Highways to request additional signage.
Hadley Park Road has been temporarily reopened today but the signs have been left in place which is understandably confusing drivers and impacting on the businesses on the industrial estate.
Stuart said:
The contractors doing the work are following Telford & Wrekin Council's instructions with signage and will only add a sign if they are paid for it. Neither Telford & Wrekin Highways nor Balfour Beatty are coming out of this looking good at the moment.
He has asked for the sign saying no access to the industrial estate to be put at the Leegate Avenue junction when the next road closure happens and for a sign saying that there is access to the industrial estate at the Okehampton Road junction.
