Cllr Tim Nelson has presented a cheque to Burton Borough School from Newport Regeneration Partnership.

Such a pleasurable duty! Being a councillor is not all dog poo, poor parking and politics.

Please excuse my informal photo of me and Lisa Kane of Burton Borough school Newport. I was handing over the cheque from the Newport regeneration partnership I chair.

I was very grateful that the partnership were able to repeat their support from last year. BBS run a very thorough and successful work experience program (over 200 youngsters per year).

Not all the young people have the resources at home we or they would like. To buy travel to work, or appropriate work wear. This is where the partnership have helped with funds to support the students get their work experience, properly equipped.

Lisa told me that this year, at least some of the money will be for safety shoes. Takes me back to my career, in factories!
