When Newport in Bloom were gardening Church bed, in Lower Bar recently, they'd noticed the uplighter wasn't working. Cllr Tim Nelson went to have a look why.

The light was full of earth and now weeds. The soil level in this bed, which is home to the iconic three fishes, is higher than when the uplighter was installed. Not least because, Newport in Bloom keep adding compost!

Yesterday, Tim cleaned the lights cage out. However, it risks just filling up again, no matter how careful folks are. So today he has made a little frame round it which should stop some of the soil entering.

Community carpentry (or, bodging, he does his best).
