Cllrs Tim Nelson and Bill Harper shaking hands. They are wearing dark suits and smiling. There is a street scene in the background.

Telford & Wrekin Councillor for Newport North, Cllr Tim Nelson and Deputy Mayor of Newport, Cllr Bill Harper attended Newport's Civic Sunday ceremony today where the town welcomed its new mayor, Cllr Thomas Janke.

Cllr Nelson said:

Bill works with me on the Newport Regeneration partnership. He is a true son of the town and a tireless presence around Newport. He also knows everyone, particularly on the commercial side. I was delighted two young pupils from Burton Borough school sang so beautifully. Go BBS.

It was almost the last service for outgoing vicar, Reverend Merry, who is going on to pastures new. We wish her well and will miss her.

Newport looked good in the sunshine!
