Opposition to Albrighton greenbelt development

Mark Pritchard MP with Cllr Nigel Lumby

Mark Pritchard MP has written to Albrighton Town Council and Shropshire Council raising concerns about a proposed housing development for 800 homes on greenbelt land around Albrighton.

Cllr Nigel Lumby raised concerns with the Wrekin MP about the development which is not supported by the local plan and will place an intolerable strain on local infrastructure and services.

There is a need for more housing - especially in rural and semi-rural areas like Albrighton - but not at the expense of the irreplaceable greenbelt.

Mark Pritchard recently spoke to the Prime Minister about the importance of building on brownfield sites rather than greenfield.
