Our Conservative Police & Crime Commissioner, John Campion, has rejected calls from the National Police Chief's Council to merge West Mercia and West Midlands Police forces.

Can we really believe that the rural counties of Worcestershire, Shropshire and Herefordshire would be better served from a police force based in Birmingham?

An attempt to make the Mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority the West Midlands Police & Crime Commissioner was stopped by the courts. If that plan is resurrected under the Labour government, we could end up with a Police & Crime Commissioner that doesn't answer to voters in Shropshire, Herefordshire or Worcestershire.
