Cllr Tim Nelson is Chairman of the Newport Youth Café charity, aka "The Hub".Newport Town Council have partnered principally with Burton Borough School to provide a training and work experience package in the Hub.

Cllr Bill Harper and Cllr Tim Nelson are Chair and Deputy Chair respectively of Newport Regeneration Partnership.The Partnership were approached by Cosy Hall in Newport, to create a 'Blue Plaque' to commemorate the work of Susan Miles, MBE, stalwart of the town and mover and shaker of Cosy Hall.
